Fletcher Han named 2022 Schwarzman Scholar
Fletcher Han has been selected to join the Class of 2022 Schwarzman Scholars, making him the first 福利姬自慰Engineering student to receive the scholarship and the fifth 福利姬自慰student to be selected.
鈥淭o be the first 福利姬自慰Engineering student named a Schwarzman Scholar is a tremendous recognition of Fletcher鈥檚 ability and potential as a leader,鈥 says Professor Grant Allen, chair of the department of chemical engineering and applied chemistry. 鈥淚 look forward to what Fletcher will accomplish with this incredible opportunity.
The prestigious graduate fellowship is awarded annually by Schwarzman College at Tsinghua University in Beijing to scholars with exemplary leadership and the ability to bridge and understand political and cultural differences. Han鈥檚 experiences as a chemical engineering student and as an international volunteer played a key role in his decision to apply for the fellowship.
鈥淏oth the department and gave me a platform to pursue an interdisciplinary capstone project in water insecurity and an undergraduate thesis in malnutrition 鈥 two topics rooted in global engineering,鈥 says Han, a fourth-year student in chemical engineering. 鈥淭hese opportunities have helped guide my future aspirations while also providing me with the skills necessary to thrive in the Schwarzman Scholars program and beyond.鈥
Beginning August 2021, Han will complete a one-year Master鈥檚 degree in Global Affairs and live in Beijing for an intensive year of study and cultural immersion.
