Students, advisor attend PTK Catalyst

福利姬自慰, AL– Two 福利姬自慰 students and their advisor attended PTK Catalyst, the annual convention for Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. Collins Davis, president of the local Rho Rho Chapter; Dalton Chestnut, chapter vice president; and Melissa Davis, chapter advisor, attended the event April 3-5 at the Kansas City Convention Center in Missouri.

“PTK Catalyst brings together top academic minds, inspiring keynote speakers and future leaders,” Davis, the advisor, said. “It’s an annual gathering of honor students from community colleges across the nation. It’s a valuable networking experience.”

During the convention, students had the opportunity to engage with business professionals, learn more about PTK’s programs and scholarships and connect with transfer representatives from four-year universities.

The event’s keynote speakers included Steve Burns, an actor, host and musician best known as Steve from “Blue’s Clues;” Miguel Cervantes, an actor and singer heralded for his role as Alexander Hamilton in Broadway’s “Hamilton: An American Musical;” and Laurie Hernandez, gymnast and author who earned gold and silver medals during the 2016 Olympics in Rio.

Davis, a general studies student from Southside, was recognized as a 2025 Coca-Cola Academic Team Bronze Scholar during the event. He said he really enjoyed PTK Catalyst and has valued his time as a member and officer of the local honor society.

“The experience was incredibly inspiring,” he said. “The chance to hear from such remarkable speakers was motivational. I am also looking forward to applying the skills and knowledge I gained at the convention to help our chapter grow and serve our college community more effectively.”

Chestnut, a native of Centre working towards a degree in general studies, echoed Davis’s sentiments.

“Being able to meet potential employers and learn about various scholarships was a huge highlight for me,” he said. “I’ve learned so much about leadership and networking from connecting with other PTK members. It’s been an invaluable experience.”

Advisor Davis said she is proud of the students for taking advantage of all that PTK Catalyst had to offer.

“Seeing Collins and Dalton interact with their peers and learn from such inspiring individuals has been a wonderful experience,” she said. “PTK is not just about academic excellence. It’s about fostering leadership, service and personal growth. I’m so proud of how our chapter continues to evolve.”

President Davis said he is excited to bring the knowledge gained from PTK Catalyst back to 福利姬自慰 State’s Rho Rho Chapter.

“Being a part of PTK has been a highlight of my collegiate career so far,” he said. “The organization empowers us to further our academic and professional pursuits. I encourage everyone who qualifies to become a PTK member to join. You won’t regret it.”

New members of PTK’s Rho Rho Chapter will be inducted at 5:30 p.m. April 16 in the Beck Conference Center on the Wallace Drive Campus.
